My REAL Cowboy

The love of my life is a real cowboy. We share an intense love of ALL music, we both know the lyrics of a song the second time we hear it. We both talk too much, we love cooking and any show on Food Network. We love So You Think You Can Dance, we pretend we can dance just like them...we can't. We're sensitive, we laugh a lot, we are my Dad's two biggest fans, chips and queso are one of our favorite meals to share. He has the best smile and prettiest blue/green eyes I've ever seen. Women comment over his beautiful white hair everywhere we go and I think he just may be a genius.

We named him Hunter Paul and I've loved him more than life since November 18th, 2002. In true Hunter fashion he decided to make his entrance just a few hours before my set induction time, 11 days after he was due. The fact that he was a he was also a surprise...the ultrasounds said he was a she, and she was Sophie Claire. "She" had a beautiful feminine Pottery Barn nursery. I didn't know Sophie was Hunter until he was born, upon the announcement that "it's a boy!" all I could say was, "Mommy, I don't have anything for a boy!?!?!"

I'm an Aggie, and in regards to our traditions we have a saying...from the outside looking in you can't understand it, and from the inside looking out we can't explain it. It's the same feeling parents everywhere have when we try to convey the feelings of love we have for our kids. It's an all-encompassing, life changing, beautiful, painful, confusing, PURE and true love. To say that love is blind is an understatement. I would pick a conversation with Hunter over any other person in the world. I love the smell of his sweaty little boy hair. When he dresses himself for school and picks out a non-matching outfit and insists he wear dirty socks because "they feel more comfortable than the clean ones" I feel like the luckiest person in the world. Thank you Jesus for giving me a son with character!

If I let him, he would wear his gun holster, boots, one of his many pearl snap shirts and a cowboy hat everyday...I'm starting to think I should let him (minus the holster, pre-K isn't fond of guns...even if they're fake). When I told him that Mommy was going to have a baby he was ECSTATIC...he said "Mommy, please make it be a boy" and when I asked what names he liked, he decided his brother should be County Sheriff. Sounds good to me.

There's no real way to end this inaugural post of mine, I could talk about him for hours...and I do. He's the most amazing thing that ever happened to me, I love him so much it makes my heart hurt, he has the kindest soul and in him I really see God's miracles.

Hunter, I can't tell you enough...you are my most favorite person in the whole world, I'm the proudest Mom there ever was. You have made my life complete and I love you more than a pig loves corn!
